Dear Parents/ Carers,
We had a fantastic week at school with a major highlight being World Book Day.
It was so much fun all dressing up as book characters and completing lots of literacy themed activities. We also had a brilliant assembly where Cal acted out ‘We are going on a bear hunt’. It really is great working and learning at Nancealverne.
Behind all the costumes and fun is an important message about books and reading. It really does help your child to learn and make progress if they love books.
- Lead by example- children are more likely to read if they see adults doing it too.
- Create a cosy reading spot at home where you can read comfortably.
- Read aloud together- children and young people of all ages like being read to, and it can really make a story come alive.
- Encourage independence and choice- let your child choose a book that interests them from the library.
On World Book Day it is so important to celebrate our shared love of reading.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Pippa
